Because of the great instructions provided the Outlaw Kit went to together quickly and easily. I modified the top plate slightly because I was using a different style T-Plate than what is offered on the 12L3. Using a standard t-plate and top plate will work great, but since I did not have those available I went with my modification. The only other holes I had to drill were that for the Servo. These holes are usually needed to be drilled on all kits so that was not that big of a deal.

I was impressed with Outlaw’s handling and the laps times I was getting. The solidness of the kit allowed me to keep up with the top of the pack on the track. Having an adjustable battery tray really makes this kit shine.
Although I really liked the adjustable battery tray I felt that the adjustment increments were too large. Maybe making the battery tray actually slide would be better. I would have also liked to have seen the top and bottom plates included with the kit.
Overall, I think you get a lot of car for the price. It has great handling and the adjustable battery tray lets you get the batteries to the left for oval racing. With such little options out there for 12th scale cars up to now this is one of the better cars out there. With all these new cars being released it will be interesting to see how they all compare to each other.
We would like to thank Eric of Darkside Motorsports for giving us the opportunity to test the Outlaw 1/12 Conversion Kit.
