Product Reviewed: Sandhills Raceway Cells 6 and 4 cell packs
SRC P/N: GP336C170 and GP334C170

Upon arrival of the cells I was impressed their packaging in the “cell boxes”. Each package comes with 4 or 6 cells and the equivalent number of cell shrink wrap material cut individually for each cell and a SRC decal. I also found the cell labeling accurate and easy to comprehend. The shrink wrap is exceptionally nice!

I scuffed the cells, use an alcohol rub on each cells end, then used my wifes “backup” hairdryer to shrink the shrink wrap (She was not too happy, but it was worth it!) then put the cells in my battery jig and tinned them.

Very Important:
Before you begin to solder any batteries - MAKE SURE THE POLARITIES MATCH UP!. Check twice, solder once!

Also choose to use good battery bars, These Sandhills Raceway Cells were the old style GP3300s (the tall ones), so I chose Deans ProBars 2.0.

I have been using the 6 cell packs in my TC3 car for a few weeks now, and my car has great speed and power and after the 5 minute races I have about 170 seconds left on a discharge (down to .9v/cell) running a 27×1 stock motor. There are a few other drivers who use the Sandhills Raceway Cells as well at the track I frequent, and they think highly of them as well.

I had a pit-partner run one of the 4cell packs in my Carpet Knife and they thought the car was quick, and had excellent run times just like the 6 cell pack. I noticed the car seemed exceptionally quicker and ran for 8 minutes with no significant loss of speed.

Sandhills Raceway has been involved in radio control for over 15 years now. They have come to understand the needs of the R/C racer. They guarantee that the information on their cell label is the most accurate information possible. For over 12 years they have owned and operated Sandhills Raceway in Vass, NC. With a premier oval track and now an off-road track, they have a reputation for being honest and fair, and this undoubtedly carries over to their line of cells as well.

They currently have a capacity for cycling 1000 cells per day. The newest Turbo Matcher 4 35s are utilized in a climate controlled environment to ensure the most consistent and accurate results possible.

The Sandhills Raceway cells are first zapped using the most up-to-date methods, which are constantly being refined. Then they cycle all of our cells three times. They are cycled at 30 amps with a cut off voltage of 0.90 volts. Cycling cells at 30 amps is the best method for “weeding out” the weaker cells. Finally the label is printed and matched to the proper cell according to the machine number on the label; this guarantees that the correct label is on the correct cell.

SRC also had some drivers at the recent 2004 Snowbirds race.
